So many dogs!

U.S. shelters are FULL!

"The Cuyahoga County shelter situation illustrates the ongoing boom taking place in shelter facilities across the nation. Nearly a quarter of a million more pets are in shelters compared to the same time last year, according to one animal advocacy agency, exacerbating conditions for facilities already experiencing a pet population crisis."

Getting ready for your new friend

Here's what we'll cover in our videos

Adopting a dog (or dogs!) can be a daunting process. But in our videos, we want to simplify things for the potential adopting person (or family).

While every shelter has their own process and guidelines -- and we want to cover those in detail whenever we visit a shelter - there are some basic things that every potential adopting person or family needs to understand:

  • What kind of dog works best in the home of a single person, a couple, or a family with children?
  • How can an adopter prepare for a new four-footed furry creature in their home?
  • Dispelling some myths about breeds and the age of dogs
  • The responsibilities involved in caring for a dog
  • Food cost, vet bills, and other costs of caring for a dog
  • If someone already has a pet, what is the best way to introduce a new dog to the home and family
